Noxious Weed Control

This treatment is ideal for any ground that you would like to see no vegetation or growth of any kind. We often see this treatment done on vacant lots, roadways, driveways, around shops, buildings, dog runs and gravel pits.

Pre-emergent herbicides are active in the top layer of soil. This treatment breaks the cycle of regrowth for new weeds by killing the seeds before they take root. The soil must remain undisturbed in order to maintain the barrier. These herbicides have a residual effect and do help prevent the regrowth of vegetation in the treated area.

The best times to schedule for pre-emergent treatments are first thing in the spring, before the weeds begin to grow, or at the end of the season before the first ground freezes. If you just want to kill the current vegetation that has grown out of the ground but not as concerned about the long term growth this treatment can also be done at anytime during the season.

Also Known As: Bareground, Soil Sterilization, Vegetation Control

Weed Spraying

This treatment is ideal for any property that has either been infested with weeds or needing maintenance treatment to prevent the regrowth. We often see this treatment done in pastures and fields.

Herbicides can help control weeds on your property. This treatment will help keep your fields looking like those beautiful rolling pastures. It will not kill all vegetation, only the grasses and weeds that are unwanted and unhealthy for your land.

The best times to schedule for this treatment are during the spring, summer and early fall. It is important to kill weeds while they are growing and thriving. Our technicians like to be able to spray before the weeds flower and seed. This will help prevent the regrowth and the spreading of different weed species.

Common Weeds: Knapweed, Tansy, Mullein, Hawkweeds, etc.

Leafy Spurge

Leafy Spurge grows rapidly and suffocates plant life around it. The root system is very complex, comprised of vertical and horizontal roots. Vertical roots can grow past 26 feet and rhizomes (Horizontal roots) can extend 15 ft per year from the parent plant.

This weed has become very intrusive in North Idaho and surrounding areas. Kootenai County is helping regulate this weed growth by contacting property owners and requesting treatment on lots with infestations.

Leafy spurge thrives during the hot months of the summer. Most property owners contact us around July and August for treatment. Keep in mind, that because of the deep root system this is a weed that needs to be sprayed annually to keep under control.

Definition: A perennial Eurasian herb that produces a flat-topped cluster of yellow bracts bearing small flowers. An extremely aggressive noxious weed in Idaho that kills other vegetation.

Fertilization

The key to fertilizing is to treat your pasture when your grasses are doing the most growing.

We recommend waiting 10 days between herbicide treatment and fertilization application.

The best times to schedule this application are early summer and early fall when there will be some rainy days to help set the fertilizer.

Right of way

Right of Way Maintenance is extremely important in keeping our area beautiful. This treatment can be done on the sides of roadways, pathways, property boarders, parking areas and high traffic areas throughout our area. This treatment keeps these areas free from unwanted weeds and vegetation.

It is important to keep up with these treatments for safety while it also protects property values. Clearing the sides of roadways of all unwanted plant growth will help keep our roadways safe by not hindering a drivers view. By keeping walking trails, parkways and property boarders clear we can continue utilizing all of our fun recreational actives around the Northwest.

We often schedule Right of Way treatments for Home Owners Associations, Cities and parks. The best times to schedule this maintenance are early spring and early fall.
